Description:
The Institute for Ecology of Industrial Areas is a research and development unit acting under the Polish Ministry of Environment, employing 100 researchers. The research performed by IETU is dedicated to environmental management challenges of urbanized and industrialised areas including such issues as soil contamination and sustainable solutions for land management. IETU phytoremediation team has an extensive experience in developing and testing novel approaches to address these challenges by combining the phytoremediation potential of energy crops with the needs to restore the quality of soils, especially contaminated with heavy metals .

Description:
The University of Hohenheim has the largest agricultural faculty (47 professors, 2700 students) in Germany and an excellent infrastructure for agricultural research (1st place in latest QS ranking in Germany, 8th place in Europe). UHOH has experience in performance and coordination of EU projects in the past and is supported by Central Research Promotion, coordinating EU funded projects. The research of the Biobased Products and Energy Crops Department addresses concepts for sustainable biomass production and supply. Main focuses are on perennial energy crops, crops residues and grassland as resource for bioenergy, biomaterials, nutrient recycling, biomass quality and systems analysis. The Department has access to 700 ha of agricultural research fields, greenhouse facilities and laboratories for analysis of plant, soil, biomass and fertilizers samples. The analytical equipment of the Department includes elementary analysis, FIA, AAS, GC and a certified biogas batch test for the analysis of specific methane yield.
